About this treasure
A very beautiful and decorative ormolu box from some eighty years ago. It has a stunning openwork body with floral motif, and a matching lid that is possibly covered with pearl effect celluloid and an embellishment of a classical painting in the center, surrounded by a brass scroll work frame. We love how it differs and stands out from what we usually have in the vintage and antique home collection. This box stands on four balled feet.

This is a rather heavy box and will be a perfect and affordable vintage item to start your heirloom collection.

Circa 1940s

Signature
Glass bowl is not signed. The ormolu box has a mark that reads "FS Co" or "SF Co" (depending on how you interpret the sequence) on the bottom.

Condition
Good vintage condition. The box shows signs of age and wear. The lid still closes very tightly and the glass bowl does not have any chips or cracks. The brass body shows signs of wear and patina shows on the decorative framework surrounding the portrait. There are two visible cracks on the lid, which could easily pass off as the marble like pattern. There are also visible brownish aged marks on the lid as well. Despite all these, , nothing detracts the beauty of this vintage box. Glass bowl is thick and has no chips or cracks. Price has been marked accordingly.

Vintage items are supposed to show characters and traits. Think of the long journey through time and places they have travelled, and you will find it easier to let them appear as they are.
